Nigeria still has millions of children who have missed routine vaccination. See the latest immunisation data. Read More
Medara Health Foundation works to reduce vaccine-preventable deaths by helping people understand vaccines, find trusted vaccination services and reach the protection they need.
Vaccination has transformed human survival. WHO’s 50-year analysis estimates that immunisation saved at least 154 million lives between 1974 and 2024. Yet access remains uneven. A vaccine only protects the person who can receive it. That is the gap Medara is built to work on.
We combine three disciplines: practical vaccination access, evidence and research, and technology that helps connect people with services. We begin with Nigeria, learn from real implementation and design for wider African relevance.
Medara is not a replacement for government health systems, licensed clinicians or emergency medical care. We work alongside existing health infrastructure and public data, and we clearly identify when a service or facility is operated by another organisation.
No one should die from a disease a vaccine could have prevented, regardless of location or income.
To reduce barriers to vaccination by helping people reach services, producing evidence that identifies gaps, and building practical technology that connects communities, vaccination locations and health information.
A world where preventable diseases no longer claim lives because every person, everywhere, can reach timely vaccination, reliable health information and preventive care.

Are we designing for people who are hardest to reach, not only those who are easiest to serve?
Will we publish what happened, including what did not work?
Does the technology solve a real barrier, or is it technology for its own sake?
